If you plug something into your cigerette lighter and it blows the fuse can this have any adverse effect on the rest of the system? A friend plugged a coffee maker into my lighter port and blew the fuse a few days later I was driving down the freeway and the car acted like it wasnt getting gas yesterday it did it again and then actually did quit after two tries it did start he says it could have gotten water in something because I hit a rain puddle pretty hard?

Hi: The cig lighter outlet will not cause any other problems for you. The system did what it is designed to do.

The other problem doesn't sound like a water problem. To me, it sounds like a fuel pump problem. Did the check engine light come on? Regardless, if the problem continues, you may want to have the computer scanned and the fuel pressure / volume tested.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and most nationally recognized parts stores (Auto Zone, Advance.) Will scan the computer for free. If you need anything, let me know.

Joe
