I had the starter tested and it is good. When you turn the key there is nothing. I checked the one fuse under the hood and it is good. The fuse in the cab is good. I checked to make sure the battery connections were ok. I jumped the solenoid to get the car started and I noticed that the battery light was on so I disconnected the battery and the car died. I don't know what else to look at or check. Are the charging system and starting system dependent of each other? What else could it be? Hope ya'll can help.

They are not that dependent, but they are related so we need to start with checking the voltage at the starter and find out what is there when you are turning the key.

Basically, you should have 12 volts on both wires at the starter, so we need to see what is there.

If you don't have 12 volts on the purple wire, then more than likely you have a park neutral switch issue or something with the ignition switch.

However, I suspect the park neutral switch is the issue as these commonly fail.

I attached the wiring diagram below.

Please run through this and let us know what you find. Thanks

Thank you for your help. I figured out the problem. It was one of the wires from the ignition switch. Thank you for your time.
