1997 Chevy Cavalier OBD2 scanner not working

I have a check engine light on my 1997 chevy cavalier. I recently bought a OBD2 scanner for my car and nothing comes on when I plug it in. I also have a 2009 toyota sienna which I tried the scanner on and it worked fine. Is my problem in the ECM, if so what can I do to quick fix it.

Hi there,

Some generic scanners wont work with all cars, I would try your scanner on a few other cars, to see how it preforms, I think you may find that it is the interface between the scanner and the ECU, just check that all the pins are clean and none feel loose.
