1997 Chevy Cavalier 3rd check engine light, gas smell, ?

In April, ck eng light on, ran rough, diagnosed with heated ox sensor, replaced. In May, ck eng light, ran really rough, replaced spark plugs/wires. Now, ck eng light *again*; not running rough, but smelling gas outside car (not new - maybe 3-5 months smelling gas). Could there be a root problem dealer techs are not finding? Could a gas line leak generate a ck eng light?

A 4 cyl Cavalier its most likely going to be a bad injector that is leaking externally. This will do both things you describe, cause a strong fuel odor and cause it to run rough
