I was pulled over the other night for speeding. Im positive that I wasnt going as fast as they said I was. I just recently found out that my gas gage is off, and was wondering if its possible for my spedometer to be off? And if so, how off could it be, and how would I find out?

About the only way to get this checked is to take it to a speedo shop and have them test whether it is off or not. Unless your gear ratio has been changed in your car and I doubt that as you have to pull the trans to do it, then the sensor may be wrong. Speedos mostly are pretty accurate or maybe 5 mph off at the most.

Measure off a mile. Use a stopwatch and at 60 it should take 1 minute.

There are speedometer shops that can calibrate the gauge.
