1989 Chevy Cavalier coolent leak

What would the coolent to leak out of my car. It is a chery cavalier. When I stopped the car for about an hr and then went back to drive the coolent was all over the ground. Let it set all night and had someone check it out could not find any problems. Put leak stop in the radiator and it is working fine now, what could have been the problem, and can I drive the car a long way or could I run into trouble

Not a big fan of stop leak they create more problems
I suggest having the water pump check and the coolant system pressure tested
check head gasket
and when you finds the leak flush the stop leak sealer u put in to the best you can
