91 Chevy Camaro V6 Automatic 134000 miles all stock. The speedometer on my car does not always work. I have checked all the connections and they seem good to go. If you go over a bad bump in the road or take your hand and bang on top of the dash it will get the speedometer to work sometimes. Is the speedometer, cable, or speed sensor bad? Please let me know

Sounds like a bad connection in the dash. Try removing the cluster and checking where it plugs in for loose connections or any kind of corrosion.

Bad/loose connection sounds like a good possibility to me too. My 86 Z28 uses a mechanical speedo cable, but my oil pressure gauge acts similar to your description. You sometimes have to whack on the front of the gauge to get it to work.

Since it sounds like you may have an electrical speedo, I would expect that you'd get a "Service Engine Soon" light if it were a sensor and not just a connection to the gauge.
