This just started yesterday. When I turn off my car the oil pressure gauge doesn't drop all the way down like it used to. It drops a little bit but doesn't go down any further. Now, when I'm starting my car, when the starter is engaged and is turning the engine over, the oil pressure gauge drops all the way down but then goes back up to normal. Oil pressure is normal while the car is running and driving. I'm thinking a bad oil pressure sender?

I don't think its the sending unit as it is electrical and all it does is change resistance to the gauge. Meaning when the key is off there is not power to the gauge. I think you night have a gauge problem. You can try the sending unit but doesn't sound like the problem. If you do have to replace the cluster you should have a shop do this because of the supplemental inflatable restraint module which must be syncronized with the cluster with a scan tool. You can have the cluster tested with a scanner that can read the body control module as this controls the instrument cluster. Hope this helps and thanks for you support. If there is anything else just ask.

Alright I'll have a shop check it out. Now, will this cause any bigger problems in the long run if left uncorrected?

No by all rights it should not. I feel it will be a instrument cluster issure so what may happen is the gauge or gauges may at one point start to all act out of the norm. I hope this helps and usually I don't recomend a shop but when it comes to air bags and such in play I don't like to have some one take chances as that can cause lots of damage. THanks and let me know how it goes if you have any other questions feel free just ask. If the shop say's something that doesn't seem to make sense get back to me and we will check it out ok.
