2000 Camaro stalls after fill up

I go to the pump, fill up, put my gas cap on and start my Camaro. It will only run if I floor it, throw it into gear and drive about 1/10 of a mile. After that it runs and starts fine until I fuel up again. I've tried to recreate the problem by just taking of the gas cap, but it only happens if fuel is actually pumped into the tank. Any idea of what it could be. I'm going to take it to the repair shop, but would like an idea of the problem before I go.

PS the car has about 73,000 mile and a standard five speed transmission.

I had the same issue with my car some years ago. Do you wait till you fill up your car when it is almost empty? If so I would say you have gunk in the tank and it is blocking up your fuel injectors. Did you ever run the car out of gas? Go to a part store and buy some fuel injector cleaner and pour it in. If you have a standard old carburator get some carb cleaner. If that doesnt help have the injectors checked. Sounds like they may be plugged and the quick driving blows the gunk out. Also have your tank looked at and make sure it isnt too dirty. When the tank runs low all of this gunk is sucked up and clogs the systme up. Good luck :P

Thank you Ed,
It turned out that I had a problem with the emission system (evap purge solenoid) they also decarbonized everything and put on a new fuel filter. After they did this all was well, but I could still smell gas. When I took it back they found a leaking fuel injector. They replaced it and put new o rings on the rest of them along with a fuel pressure regulator. All is well now and it runs like it did when it was new.
