1985 Chevy Camaro V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 106k miles

why does my camaro stall when I give it gas? Before I replaced the air filters I was able to get higher rpms, now it just wants to die.

before I bought it, It sat for a couple if years.

My first guess would be since it sat a couple years, it has a clogged fuel filter and your motor is starving for gas. If that is not the case I would then check timing/ignition.
