Engine Performance problem
1996 Chevy Blazer Front Wheel Drive Automatic 15106 miles

Only has 73, 000 mile, and don't drive highways. When I go up a hill it seems my blazer has no power & I have to punch the gas. The Service Engine Light sometimes doesn't come on when I turn the key, Also lately it makes a squealing noice in the engine when I am driving. Told it could be catalytical converter or soemthing clog. Fuel pump only has 6,000 miles on it. Any suggestion. Vehicle never acts up when it the shop

Hi:
It could be a plugged cat converter. You can rent the tool to check back pressure at most nationally recognized parts store. Also, have the computer scanned for trouble codes a the parts store too. Most will do it for free. Finally, when was the fuel filter last replaced?
