Smell gas when I start it

It is a 89 2.8 6cyl autotrans 1312299 miles I think I smell it later too I can smell it bad when srarting I have had pepole tell me its running rich I know it eats up too much gas it runs ruff sometimes its like it vibrateing hard it doesnt do it every time but it starting too I have replaced my 02 sensor map sensor cooling heat sensor belt tenson pully fuel filter thought that mite be leaking but no its not it set up for 2yrs bought from neighbor he had to much problems with it now there mine dont know what I got into reading all of the other problems on the site makes me wonder I guess im lucky so far its not worse dont know where to start with the gas problem any ideas would help thanks
