1999 Chevy Astro Van stalls out on me

After an hour or so of driving my van will sputter and cut out on me. Sometimes I will hear a loud bang under the hood. This will happen when i'm about half way on gas. I have replaced the fuel pump and wiring as well as the fuel filter. When the filter was replaced the mechanic found some water inside of it. Also my fuel gauge shakes and wont read a full tank. Could this be an ignition switch problem or a ground problem with the fuel gauge or pump?

When it dies, you need to test it for fuel pressure and spark. We need to know what is missing to know where to start. I dont really think that the gauge reading is part of the problem, the fuel pump is powered all by itself.
