HI

I am at my wits end please help. My Chevy Astro Cargo Van check engine light came on and the code say's its a miss fire on cylinder 1. I have changed the plugs, wire set and the distributor cap and rotor arm but the problem still remains.

Have you checked compression. I would check all the cylinders and compare them. Should be around 120 psi

Thank's for the advice, I will check it as soon as I can. If the compression is low, would this indicate a blown gasket or worn piston rings.

Most of the time if the compression is low its either valves not seating correctly of piston rings. Once a cylinder has low compression you perform a wet test. Adding a small amount of oil in the cylinder alllows the rings to seat better temporarly. So if compression goes higher its the rings. If it remains low its normall and valve issue. Either way the head would have to come off.
