I started my car and it was idling kind of rough. When I started to drive it things seemed fine. About 3 blocks down the road my engine light started to flash I turned around and came right home.

Good evening,

This indicates one or more of the cylinders are misfiring.

There should be codes set for the effected cylinders. It could be as simple as a plug or a coil that is bad but needs to be checked by someone to be sure.

How long since you had a good tune up?

I do not really know. The light was flashing and by everything I have read. I should not drive it, but it stopped flashing when I got it back home.

It will do that.

I would take it to a local garage and have them check it for you. They will run a diagnostic for you and give you an estimate for the repairs.

Once you get the bid, let me know what it is and we can discuss it.

So this morning my husband is home. He started to change the spark plugs to see it that would help. When we pulled the second plug from the left it had oil on it.

That most likely came from oil leaking at the valve cover. I doubt it was in the cylinder or it would smoke blue out the exhaust.
