How do I replace the check engine bulb?

You drop the lower cover by removing the hood release lever and the screw on the bottom right of the steering column. Then the cover releases from the panel clips.
Under it you will find two screws that secure the upper panel trim, then there are three screws in the pocket the gauge panel is in. Remove those five screws and the upper panel trim comes off. Remove the four screws that hold the panel itself to the dash.
Pull the panel out far enough to access the bulb(s) you wish to replace.

I take it the CEL does not come on during the bulb check?
