We received a new catalytic converter from an independent shop. The shop never gave us back our old part despite requesting it. After this we decided to do our own inspection only to see several areas that appeared to be welded together, despite the part (17410-0D151) being fully assembled. Can you let me know if this appears welded and why this would be done? Should we get it inspected at another place? My husband never changed his exhaust.

That part is made from several pieces that are welded together to form the assembly. As such it will appear to be welded. If you want a better opinion, please take some pictures of the parts and post them in your reply.
