Also, I’m told it is already tuned. What does that mean?

Hello,

Is this a straight six or v8 engine? Also please upload images of what you are working on so I can walk you though the repair. The carburetor will need to be adjusted once it is installed which I can help with as well.

It is a v8. I will go to my friend's house and take a picture of it today. Is that what my friend meant when he said it’s already tuned? Like it doesn’t need to be adjusted? Or does it still need to be adjusted even though it’s tuned. I’m not quite sure what tuned means in regard to carburetors.

There is an idle speed which will need to be adjusted as well as fuel air mixture screws for the idle mode. I can walk you through it.

Yep, that will take some work, it looks like the power steering pump needs to be remounted as well. I can help walk you through the repairs, but it would be good to know the history of the car, is the engine good, is the transmission good? I don't want to see you put money into a car that will not work for you. If you want to move forward, I will help you.

It’s not my car. I have no clue about the engine or transmission. My friend just asked me to change the carburetor, so I said okay, lol.

Okay, well the carburetor is off the engine already, do you have the new one? When you install the new carburetor clean the gasket surface and remove the paper in the intake manifold. Also, the gas in the tank will be a problem and it will need to be flushed out and new fuel installed. Also crank the engine over so new fuel is present before you put the fuel line on the carburetor. This will help keep clean fuel in the carburetor float bowl, so you don't put bad gas in the new unit. Let me know, together we can get it running, one step at a time.
