I took the thermostat out, reconnected housing, and tried to start the car. The engine lurched and then the starter just started clicking.

Hi,

Have you checked to make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight? Also, is the battery fully charged? If you are only getting a clicking, it sounds like either a bad connection (dirty, loose, corroded) or an issue with a weak battery. Take a look through these two links and let me know if they help.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,
Joe
