Vehicle starts up great but every single morning when the engine has sat overnight, I will start it put it in gear(reverse/drive) and it will studder and stall does this a couple times than allows me to drive off I get the first 2 or 3 stops signs and will stall at each one of them. I can bypass the stalling by putting it into neutral or not coming to a complete stop. After those first couple stalls it won't do it the rest of the day. I have also noticed when I'm driving and have my foot steady on the gas at consistent speed, I can feel the vehicle accelerate and decelerate slightly on its own. Had the throttle body and mass air flow cleaned but it didn't seem to make a difference. 1 mechanic told me there were 3 stored codes on the transmission u1000, p0868 and u0100. After driving to work one day on the interstate my car stopped accelerating.I had it towed and a different mechanic said they didn't see anything wrong with it, that it didn't stall and drove great, after the tow it stopped stalling in the mornings for 5 days and started again every day since.

Sounds to me like the torque converter is locking up. This could be caused by a failing torque converter itself or one of the control components. If you have access to one, a scan tool capable of reading live data would really be helpful in diagnosing this concern.

There is no check engine light on. There haven't been the codes that were pulled at the one shop said that they can't be read from a regular code reader, they are saved transmission code. I don't know if it matters or not that there's not check engine light that's what I'm having a problem with after being towed, I was told it was fine and that they can't fix something if they don't witness the problem themselves.

If you have a recommendation on a well-priced live data scan tool I would get it.

I really don't have one that I could recommend. I did find this review site that might give you an idea. There is no way to know for sure what live data monitors the tool has until you plug it in.

Sounds good. What you will want to watch is Engine RPM and Transmission Input Speed (ISS or Turbine Speed). There should be a difference in readings under normal operation. If they read the same or very close when the problem occurs, then you would know it is a torque converter lock up issue.

That code refers to a power issue in the ABS module. That should not cause your issue. If the ABS warning light is not staying on, then I would just clear that code and retest. It could have been stored at some time in the past.

Hi,

I noticed we haven't been in contact with you for a couple of days. Have you been able to make any progress? We're interested in knowing.

Well, without seeing all of the sensor data, I can only go by the symptom. The only other thing I can suggest at this time would be to have the transmission fluid and filter replaced. Dirty or contaminated fluid could cause a control valve in the valve body to stick.

We just changed the transmission fluid last week 10 quarts and it was black. It's a CVT transmission so it's usually clear. I really am trying to avoid taking it to Nissan but 2 different mechanics told me they can't fix it if they don't know what's wrong. I have a warranty on all the major parts transmission engine etc. But I have to be able to get a shop to say hey this car needs a new transmission which I haven't been able to get yet.
