Prior to all this, the car would start without any issues, within half a turn of the engine.
When I put everything back together again, I forgot to plug in the MAF sensor.
The air box also has one broken tab where the metal clip clips onto the MAF tube. This happened many years ago though and there has not been an issue with the way the car runs.
When I tried starting the car it took a few seconds of the engine turning over (which was unusual) and when it did start it was rough. I drove it this way for around 3 miles before I remembered that I had forgotten to plug in the MAF sensor.
I plugged it in and went home.
Now, whenever I try and start the car it takes a few seconds of turning over to fire up. When it is at operating temperature and is turned off it takes a few seconds for it to start up again. When the engine is cold, it takes less time to start than when it is at operating temperature, but it does take longer than it used to and sometimes, I need to try a second time.
So, I am wondering what may have happened. Has some sensor been affected by having the MAF sensor off for a few miles? Or is another sensor on its dying legs?
Any help would be appreciated.
