1996 Cadillac EL Dorado check engine light

My check engine light comes on and goes off all the time I have been told that I have a misfire in the 5th cylinder. How do I get this fixed. I don't want to go to the dealership and get charged an arm and a leg.

Do you feel a misfire, or rough run. If you can verify it, and that it is #5, you could have a cracked spark plug, and carbon tracked wire. I am not certain that a misfire would trigger a check engine light on a 96. If you can have the codes read, that would be adviseable.
