I have a power steering fluid leak. The dealer said the high pressure line needs replaced and I need a rack and 4 wheel alignment.
Why do I need the rack and alignment when the high pressure hose needs replaced?

If you have a leak, and the gear itself is not leaking, I don't know why it would need replaced. The alignment may be requested because you show some abnormal tire wear, or it has not been performed for a while. Or the alignment is just there because if you chose to replace the gear, it would need at a minimum a toe set.
