What must I do to test my heater core or to blow out the heater core so heat can blow out from my vents

In engine compartment locate both heater hoses as they enter the bulkhead. Feel both should be hot one a little more so. If not thermostate needs replacement. If both hot then a blend door problem needs to be diagnosed.
