Electrical problem
1996 Cadillac Deville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

what would cause the car not to start if it has a new battery and everything else is showing good and if so is there a coil that is bad I have a friend that is trying to figure this out and I told him that I would try to find out but it does run but when he turns it off it will not start and they have tried to put a new battery in it but it would still not start. What in the electrical part of it would cause it not to start like that and what is it if you would have an idea.

If it is a 4.9 car, it has one coil that if failing, will cause a no spark-no start. If it is a northstar, it has four coils, and a failing one would cause misfire on one/two cylinders. Has it been confirmed that spark is absent when it won't start? You have the theft system, fuel delivery/injection, and ignition system. When it won't start, it needs to be determined what is missing, fuel, air, or spark.
