Heater problem
1996 Cadillac Deville V8 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

my heater works but will not switch over to defrost switches to vent instead how can I fix this

Hi:
There are vents in the HVAC duct work that direct air flow. Most times they are run by vacuum. If the door isn't working, most likely there is a vacuum leak or somehow the door is broken or damaged. The first thing to do is listen (under the dash) to see if you can hear a hiss from a leak.

Step 1 - A heater cannot operate unless the engine is full of coolant/antifreeze. If coolant level is low check the system for leaks.
