Car was dead, bought new battery. As soon as I turn off, try to start again it is already dead. Thoughts?

Sounds like an alternator that is not charging adequately, and running on battery power. Charge the battery, start the engine, and place a voltmeter across battery terminals. You should see over 13 volts when running. Anything consistently below 12.6 is draining the battery.
