I have a 4cylinder 1995 skylark which started to sputter recently. I thought it was the spark plugs so I replaced those and it still did it. It was only once and awhile and today on my way home from work it starter doing it 100% of the time. It sputters like a plug is bad but we know its not it. I cant get the car over 30mph.

any ideas? No check engine lights are on.

I am having the same problem with my wifes car, and was wondering if you found out what the problem was? Thanks in advance, Jason.

Now I may be wrong but I was told that when a car wont go over a certain MPH then the problem is either a vacuum leak or a map sensor.

Mine was sputtering just like that and there was a small vacuum hose right on the front of the motor that was falling off and cracking. Replaced that, it was like night and day. But now I had the problem again and the hose is fine. I couldnt get it to go over 25mph. I was told it may be the map sensor. Now I just need to find out where the map sensor is on the car-heard its not too difficult to replce, once I find it.
