I have a 1994 buick skylark that is stuck in thrid gear. I have reverse and park and when I put it in drive I only have third gear. What could be the problem?

3rd gear is stuck because something is broken in the unit. Reverse is applied by the 1st/reverse clutches, but if the 2nd gear apply band is broken, you wont have anything in 1st or 2nd. Unfortunatly, sounds like time to go to trans shop or scrap the car.
