1995 Buick Riviera wont start

My buick wont start the display is shpowing it is in drive but I have it in park, also gas gauge drops to empty when I try to start it. It cranks but wont start

Hi:
Does the car turn over? Also, the gear selector linkage may need repairde. Are you sure it's in park? Finally, have you checked for spark and fuel (if it cranks)?
