I Have a 2003 Buick Regal LS with 105,000KM/65,000Mi.
I just got back from the dealership and the tech reported the coolant was “a little low" and they traced the issue to a faulty Intake Manifold Gasket and recommended a $1,200 repair.
Does this seem to be an appropriate time or mileage for this repair to be done? Are there any other compliment repairs that should be done at the same time?

Is the engine a 3.1L V6? If so, this is a common problem. However, how bad is it leaking?

The engine is the 3.8. I could not see a leak from the outside, nor did I get engine response spraying wd40 around the gasket.

The car activated service engine soon momentarily when trying to accelerate out of the way of a fire truck on way to new shop. That code led 2nd shop to agree with manifold gasket issue diagnosis.

Chances are that is the problem. Have they actually checked it? Also, what code did they get?
