Ok Here is my problem:

I bought this car about 1.5 months ago and it ran fine. Soon after I got it, it was missing and the odd time the only way it would start is if I gave it a shot of gas while it was turning over. Eventually this got allot worse, it would just shut off while I was driving it but then it would just start right back up. Then once I was just driving in town and it shut off, so I tried to start it and it wouldn't so I left it where it stoped (not too far from home). I got it to my house and started inspecting it for reasons why it wouldn't start, I noticed that ther was no spark so I talk to some people and a GM mechanic friend of mine said that it could be the Coil packs and Gave me three used but still good coil packs. I put the all 3 in and went to start it, and nothing. So I decided to reset the computer to try that. I left the battery disconnected for about 15-20 min and I tried it again. It started and went to the cold Idle (1000 RPM) ran for about 3 secs and shut off, Tried to start it agian and nothing. I kept trying to get it to start agian and after a while it did this time I tried to hit the gas to keep it running but it just died as soon as I hit the gas, after a while it ran for 3 secs agian and that was it. I have NO! Idea what the problem could be could someone help me out, I know these 3.8L can be Buggers.

Car: 1991 Buick Regal GS Custom Four Seater
3.8L Auto 128,000 K (I am in Canada)

Thanx in advance

Good place to start is to pull any codes from the puter.

Your problem sounds somewhat intermittent. However can think of many things that would leave you sitting this way.

Update:

Ok I had the car running the other day. I disconnnected the battery over night, then in the morning I tried it again and it started. It went to 1000 rpm, then I ran it through the revs and all was fine then I tried holding it at a steady RPM (3000rpm) but once I let it drop a little bit the car shut off an hasn't started again since.

HELP PLEASE!

Ok before you disconnect the battery again.

Please pull the codes off your puter and then share them with us so that we know what your puter is thinking.
