1991 Buick Regal CAM position sensor

Computer code says problem with cam position sensor, I have changed sensor, checked wiring, replaced ign module, MAF sensor, still same code. If sensor was bad wouldn't it effect performance? Car runs fine, gets 23-25 mpg. Doesn't cam pos. Sensor sequence the fuel injectors? Help please.

Hello, maybe the magnet fell off the back of the cam gear? I believe the vehicle will run just fine without it, but, the injectors will probably revert to mfi, will not pulse sequentially.

If the magnet is still there, then you have another issue.
