Our car stalls out intermintenly, then after it sits for a while it starts back up and a week may go by before it will do it again. 2 mechanics have looked at it but don't want to just throw parts at it?

They are good mechanics then. I hate when people just keep guessing at the customer's expense.

Has the check engine light ever come on? When it doesn't restart, have you been able to check for spark and fuel to the engine? If not, you need to. One will be missing and that will help narrow down where the problem is coming from.
