MY OIL LIGHT HAS CAME ON (3) TIMES. THE FIRST TIME I CHANGED THE OIL AND IT DID BOT GO OFF SO I CHANGED THE SENDING UNIT AND IT WENT OFF AND ABOUT (3) WEEKS LATER IT CAME BACK ON AND I CHANGED THE SENDING UNIT AGAIN AND IT WENT BACK OFF. ABOUT (3) WEEKS LATER IT CAME BACK ON AND I STOPPED AND CHECKED THE OIL AND WHEN I CRANKED IT BACK UP THE LIGHT WAS OFF AND HAS NOT CAME BACK ON IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. IT IS STILL DOING FINE AT THE PRESENT. I TALKED WITH A FRIEND AND HE HAS A 89 MODEL OLDS WITH A 3.8 AND HIS IS DOING THE SAME THING AS MY BUICK. I THOUGHT IT MAY BE THE OIL PUMP AND HE DOES TO. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

Hi there,

Have the oil pressure tested with a master gauge, this fits in where the electrical sender mounts. This will give a true indication as to what the oil pressure is doing. When you know that, you can decide on what is the best action to take to rectify your problem.
