When I start the car it will not idel unless I have my foot on the gas pedel, I have noticied that the colling fan is on when I start, one the fan goes off the car will smooth out and idle at normal speed, but when the fan comes back on it pulls the engine down and almost stalls out. What could be causing this?

thank you
Roger

Hello, are there any codes? Your obd1, you should be able to check the codes, yourself. As far as the fan on some models, if the CTS is unplugged, the fan comes on, if the ac controls are on, the fan my run. I can't tell, It might be an issue with the cts.

As far as idle, I'd look at the idle air control system.

Does the CEL even come on? I believe there should have been a code 12, if nothing else.

Cts is coolant temp sensor, if the cel isn't coming on, I wouldn't worry about that sensor, I can't be sure it is faulty.

If it runs good off idle, but, no idle, check the idle air system.
