2001 Buick Century overheating

My car overheat on stop and go traffic.
Does it have a termostate for the water cooling?
Because some times it stays cool and most of the time it overheat even in cold wheather.
I live in Las Vegas.

Very common for the intake manifold gasket to leak coolant
Need to have that checked
And yes it does have a thermostat follow upper radiator hose to the intake manifold and the thermostat housing
