I changed the coils out to check for bad ones. Car was running rough and would stall. Replaced the fuel filter and the engine seem to run better. Driove the car about 15 miles and it stalled at a corner and would not start again. Using a little starting fluid it would start and run and stall out again. How do you check coils to see if their ok

If the engine starts with staring fluid it is not an ignition (coil) issue, it is a fuel delievery problem. Since you stated you change your fuel filter and it ran better for a while I would recommend checking fuel pressure, should have 41 - 47 psi. Low or high fuel pressure would cause your issues. Also check the fuel pressure regulator. A quick check is to remove the vaccuum line to the regulator, if there is raw fuel pressent in the vaccuum system, replace the regulator.
Let me know if any of this helps.
