Car has been sitting for awhile, because it needed an alternator. I put it in today, and tried to jump it. It tried to start, but didn't. I bought a new battery and put it in, now it won't even try to start! The lights do go on. What is my next step?

I have a 87 4ycl. You can check the starter and the fuel pump. If it tries to turn over and just can't do it, it's probally the starter. If when you try to start it and nothing happens, no clicks, nothing, it's probally the fuel pump. I have had both happen to me and have replaced both.

I think it was a lose wire. I went through it again, and it started! We have been driving it, but how it needs an ignition. Is this an easy thing to do on my own?
