I'm Swedish and my car is in Spain, This does not ease things. The mechanic doesn't speak English. He told me that the crank broke and he needs to change it. The problem is also that he needs to change all the parts that the crank is attached to. Do you think that this is correct? Total cost for parts excl. Work is appx 5,500 USD. Could this be correct?

As an non pleasant add on to this, the cylinders needs to be repaired and the pistons replaced as water has leaked in. Could this really happen?

A lot of work must be done on top of this, water and oil pump etc. Total cost including work will be appx 10,000 USD. Does it sound reasonable?

4 questions in one :-) Pls support if possible. I'm desperate for some advice.

Check into getting another motor from ford to see what that costs or an engine rebuilder over there. I would imagine the prices seem about right but not sure. Being overseas i'm sure prices are higher at least for parts. If the crank broke it probably will need a couple of rods and even a cylinder bored then sleeved to correct the problem. Plus all the bearings and seals/gaskets etc. That is why I would check into another motor ford has crate motors available and might be a better way to go.
