Broken Bolt and Bolt remover?

Was removing the radiator hose one of the bolts broke bought a bolt remover and broke inside. Help.

Hi,

You can use an easy out, also known as a screw extractor, to remove a broken bolt from an engine. Here's how it's done.

Use a drill bit that is smaller than the diameter of the broken bolt to drill a pilot hole in the center of the bolt. Be sure to drill as straight as possible to avoid damaging the surrounding threads.

Choose an easy out that matches the size of the pilot hole you drilled. The easy out will have a spiral, threaded designed to catch when turning the broken stud in the removal direction.

Gently tap the easy out into the pilot hole using a hammer. Make sure it's seated firmly in the hole, so it won't slip.

Using a wrench, apply turning force to the easy out in a counterclockwise direction. The design of the easy-out should grip the broken bolt and allow you to turn it out.

Before trying to remove the bolt, apply penetrating oil to help loosen it. Allow the oil to work its way into the threads for a while before attempting to turn the bolt again. If the location on the engine is safe, you can use a torch to heat the area around the broken bolt. That will cause the threaded portion to expand and allow the stud to come out easier.

I cannot tell from the picture what you are removing. Is it one of the transmission cooler lines? Could you post a couple images of the area from farther back? And the piece you removed from that area. Thank you.
