I recently had front/rear brakes and rotors done on my car. I remember when I was a kid, over 40 years ago, going to the garage with my Dad. After he had a brake job, they bled the brakes and ratcheted up his brake pedal. After my brake job, I expected my brake pedal to be higher. Can they still do that on my 2002 Deville or are those days over? Thank you.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

The brake system is hydraulic and non-adjustable. The only thing I can think of is you most likely remember the brake shoes being adjusted. That can create a higher brake pedal and when you go back to the older vehicles, most every one had at least rear drum brakes. I even remember four wheel drum brakes. Each wheel was adjustable. Also, maybe you recall them adjusting the parking brake.

Your vehicle has four wheel disc brakes and honestly as far as the brake pedal height, you won't feel a difference.

Please feel free to ask any question you have.

Take care,
Joe
