Brake warning on dashboard

My brake warning light came on suddenly and stayed on. I added brake fluid and the light is still on.

This light can mean a couple different things. Not only low brake fluid but it can also mean an issue with the electrical side of the braking system. Here is a guide on the common things.

Also, we should check for codes and see what we have just to be sure. If there are no codes then we may have an issue with the brake fluid level sensor or another item.
