Good morning.

If it does not return fully, either the brake pedal fulcrum which is what the brake pedal runs on under the dash is rusted and needs some lubricant or the power brake booster is the issue.

If you do not have power brakes, then it could also be the master cylinder itself sticking internally.

Thank you. I will try lubricating the fulcrum first and see if that resolves my issue. I do not have power brakes so it would probably be the master but I do know it was changed before I got the truck. Which was two months ago I was having to raise the pedal with the top of my foot that was an interesting drive.

Well, I lubricated the fulcrum and it is not returning fully when running but it does when it is off. Would if be the master or the booster? Or should I replace both?

You stated you had no power brakes but you asked about the booster? Please clarify.

If you have a booster, you have power brakes. If it does it running and not off, then it is the booster itself.

Okay thank you. I thought it did not have power brakes, but I was mistaken. Sorry for the confusion. Thank you again for your input.

So I replaced the brake booster and it's still doing it. So how much vacuum should I be getting from the brake booster hose would that have anything to do with it? I took it off and ran the engine and I could put my finger in it and I feel a little vacuum. I am going to replace the master cylinder next and I checked all my brake lines and wheel cylinders they all check out good.

There should be 18-20 inches of vacuum.

Loosen the bolts for the master cylinder and see if the pedal returns.

New or rebuilt booster?

Okay, did you unbolt the master cylinder and see if it still happened?
