Although the brake lights on the bed of the truck stopped working about the same time as the cruize control the brake light on the cab still works.

Someone said that the brake switch under the dash might cause ALL the brake lights to not work along with cruize control however they were unconvinced since the third cab Brake light still works.

Any ideas what else may cause these problems?

Did you check the vehicle stop fuse? The high mount brake lite and the lower brakes lites work off two different fuse. Not only check the vehicle stop fuse, but, also check voltage on the fuse circuit with brake pedal activated. Could be that fuse or wiring circuit? Note the diagram, gives fuse location.
