My brake lights will not go off. Fluid is good, emergency brake off. I tried to disconnect to reboot but no luck.

This is the brake light switch for a 1997 Town Car w/ 4.6 L V-8 (click on my link below).

This will be found at the top of the brake pedal arm where it pivots.

Notice the "half moon" cuts in the switch, this is what hooks over the pedal's axle (lack of a proper term for it). It is usually well hidden up in there.

They will go bad, sometimes they just sort of slide/jump out of place and can be put back.

A large hand mirror stolen from your wife or girlfriend and a small bright flashlight may let you see the situation before you get all contorted in the floorboard.

Let us know how it goes.

I would start by checking the brake fluid level if low then check the front brakes this is a common reason for the fluid level to be low. Your brakes will not lock up.

Here is a guide that will help you get the job done:

Please let us know what you find.
