At the end of my response, I included links to help with testing.

First, confirm there is power at fuse 19 in the fuse box right kick panel. (see pic 1)

If the fuse is good and there is power from it, check the wires at the brake light switch. There are two. First the blue/red wire should have 12v all the time. When the switch is actuated, power should feed to the violet/white wire. See picture 2

If power is present, it feeds to the violet/white wire when the switch is actuated, confirm the switch is properly adjusted and actuating the switch when the brake is applied.

The next area of possible concern is a splice. Take a look at pic 3. The wire on the left goes to the 3rd brake light and the one on the right (both the same color) goes to the brake lights. If the splice is good and power is there, the problem is between that point and the light sockets. I feel it is unlikely that the problem is the splice just because the signals work. The splice is also used for the hazard lights. See picture 4

Here are the directions specific to this vehicle for brake light switch replacement. Take a look through them to confirm all was put together correctly. The last two pictures correlate with the directions.

Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect the stop-lamp switch electrical connector.

2. Remove the cover and the self-locking pin.

3. Remove the stop-lamp switch from the brake booster push rod and the brake pedal assembly.
- Remove the spacer.

4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

I don't think the problem is a ground issue. All tail lights ground at the same point and other lights are working.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find.

Thank you I replace the fuse. The brake light started working. Although the fuse look good when I replaced it the brake light started working so the fuse must be something bad with the it.

Welcome back:

That's good news. Honestly, it is sometimes hard to see where they go bad. Also, it could have been corroded and not making connection in the fuse box. Regardless, I'm glad it's working.

Take care and let us know if you have questions in the future.

Joe
