Dear Sir, when coming to a stop. My rev counter sticks/hangs around 1500 revs. This is only for a few seconds then it goes down to normal idling, around 800 revs. This happens when the engine is hot or cold.
Any ideas. Thankyou

Indicator issues can often be nothing more than just a stuck needle. Is this an old problem or did it just pop up?

It started sticking about 2 months ago, today, coming to a stop at lights it seemed to surge up to 2000 revs then down to 1500 revs for a few seconds and then normal idle speed.

So the idle speed is the issue here, or is it just the indicator?

Yes, it's not the indicator, it's the idle control, it's worse when the engine is warm.

There is a device on the engine that is called the crankcase vent valve. When it fails, it presents with this symptom. Also there are several vacuum hoses that degrade over time and should be replaced as well.
