2003 BMW 530i oil service light reset

I followed your post on how to reset the oil service ligt manualy. It did not work. Maybe I'm missing something? How do I reset my oil service light manually? I pressed the the odometer reset button held it down while I turned the key to the second position and nothing happens.
HELP!
