My 87 528 BMW won't start :o(

When I first started my 87 bmw this morning, the engin tried to turn but slowly died. I started it again but now it just makes a buzzing sound and won't start at all. The lights, etc, still come on and are not dimming. Could it be the battery? I don't think its the starter because I'm not getting that tick, tick, tick sound that's usually associated with a bad starter. Spark plugs look ok. What else could be going on?

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Recharge the battery and try again
you may have a discharged battery
you may have a charging system issue
battery voltage when running with a charged battery should be about 14 volts.
The battery terminals need to be clean and free of corrosion.

Thank you so much for your response.
I went and had the battery checked. Its ok. I'm now thinking its either the starter or alternator. :O(
Either way, i'm back on the bus until I can save up the money to fix whatever is wrong with it. -Sigh

Thank you again. :O)
